PROPERATIVE
PROCEDURE
15 days before surgery patient should
start tests
1.
Blood
tests
2.
Full
blood count (complete blood count)
3. Biochemical
analysis (sodium, potassium, chloride, bicarbonate, urea or blood urea nitrogen, magnesium,
creatinine, , glucose,
cholesterol, triglyceride)
4.
Bleeding
time, prothrombin time (PT), partial thromboplastin time PTT and INR
5.
ECG
(Electrocardiography)
6.
General
practitioner report that patient is healthy and ready for surgery in English
7.
Plain
Chest radiography (Chest X Ray) for patient older than 60 years or if necessary
10 days before surgery
All
anticoagulant drugs (acetylsalicylate containing drugs) must be stopped. If any
other anticoagulant drug is used doctor who prescribed must arrange reduction
or replacement drugs. Written report in English with suggested treatment is necessary.
3 days before surgery (usually Friday)
Treatment
with 2 packages of antibiotic cephalexin 500mg starts. Patient should take 2 capsules
in the morning and 2 in the evening even on day of surgery until all drugs are
used. In case of allergy or any other reason general practitioner can give
other antibiotic
Surgery day
-patient
can eat or drink until 5 hours before surgery (admition time). After that
period it is not recommended to eat or drink (even plain water)
-in
the morning patient must use all drugs including antibiotics and if it is
necessary replacement anticoagulant drugs as they are prescribed
Patient should bring to hospital
-personal
ID and passport
-all
examinations reports (collected 15 days before sugary)
-ophthalmologists
report
-all
drugs that patient is using regularly
-basic
personal hygiene accessories
-slippers
and preferable clothes for hospital (there is clothes in hospital but it will
be more comfortable for you to wear clothes that you like)
IF THERE ANY OF PARTS OF PROCEDURE IS NOT
COMPLETED WE WILL HAVE TO POSTOPNE PROCEDURE
